What I can't quite decide is a bit of a chicken or egg problem.
Did our politicians start using immigration/the EU as a scape goat for their failures of government, and as part or the general politics of division that's been very prominent in the last decade or so, and so the papers reported more and more that bias; or did the newspapers start it and the politicians jump on the scape goat driven band wagon?
