Yeah, this Hargreaves.

Ok folks, let's say you're a big company - like the one above, for instance. Let's say you have some vacant land - like, say, the Portland/Church St. property listed on their New Developments page. Let's say that the last time this property was actually used was over a decade ago - to be more specific, 1986, according to local council records.

The reason for this is due to the fact you can't get planning permission for it.

And, let's say, after all these years of that property lying dormant, some of the local folks decide to do something about it...and turn it into a community garden, rather than have it sitting around as an eyesore.

The people who have built it say if you ever get planning permission to do anything with it, they'll shift, but until they...hey, why not?

If you, as a company, decide you'd rather not have them there, do you:
a)Send a representative down to have a chat and explain this.
b) Get your lawyers to send them a letter and explain this.
c) lead in with threats, followed by assault, dragging them through the courts, then finally carrying out an illegal eviction with an arrest.

If you guessed C, you're on the money.

Long story short: this is what's happened at Brighton Mound. The suprise eviction and destruction of the garden was this morning. The company in question is Hargreaves. Spread the word, spread the bad publicity, email them if you feel it's appropriate. Let them know just how much in the wrong they are, and just how much they cannot get away with it.
